A number of distinct forms of
E. obliqua
occur in the Otways region of south-western Victoria.
In this example,
E. obliqua
is growing in a mixed tall-open forest stand with blue gum (
E. globulus
). Rainfall at such sites is high (1000 - 1500 mm per annum) and soils are generally fertile.
Tree heights may exceed 50 m on the best sites.
