A number of distinct forms of
E. obliqua
occur in the Otways region of south-western Victoria.
This photo depicts a fairly typical open (or dry sclerophyll) forest of
E. obliqua
(in a mixture here with
E. globulus
and
E. cypellocarpa
). Rainfall is less than for the previous example (about 600-850 mm per annum).
Sclerophyll shrubs generally dominate the understorey although grasses are common on more fertile soils or where fire is frequent.
