Ecotypes: Examples

A number of distinct forms of E. obliqua occur in the Otways region of south-western Victoria.

This photo depicts a fairly typical open (or dry sclerophyll) forest of E. obliqua (in a mixture here with E. globulus and E. cypellocarpa ). Rainfall is less than for the previous example (about 600-850 mm per annum). Sclerophyll shrubs generally dominate the understorey although grasses are common on more fertile soils or where fire is frequent.
