Modeling: Population Definition

Individuals in the population are classified as adults or juveniles. To simplify matters, we ignore males and only record the dynamics of females in the population. Adult number is the number of surviving adults plus the number of juveniles that survive to adulthood. Juvenile number is the number of chicks hatched plus those released from a captive breeding program, less those caught by predators.

Food supplementation increases the survival of both juveniles and adults. This is one option you could choose in the Management Game at the end of this tutorial.
