Mangroves: Mangroves Examples - Eucalyptus sp.
This photo was taken on Hinchinbrook Island (North East Queensland).
The community shown is on a sand bar separating a brackish lagoon (behind the eucalypts)
and the tidal mudflats (about where you're sitting).
Eucalypts grow inland from the mudflats, well beyond the reach of the tides. They are not mangroves. Eucalypts are
sclerophyllous, and are not considered part of the rainforest either.
On Hinchinbrook Island (North East Queensland) there are rainforest elements and eucalypts in the beachfront community.
