Australian Flora and Fauna: Plants of an Arid Land

The introduced species Marram Grass ( Ammophila arenaria ) has been used successfully to re-vegetate unstable sand dunes throughout Australia. It shows features similar to many indigenous sclerophyllous grasses.

Here Marram Grass is being used to stabilise sand dunes at Rye Back Beach on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria.
